One-Grant-at-a-Time Policy

The Foundation has a policy of providing one grant to an organization at a time. If your organization is currently receiving a grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation, we cannot review a new proposal until the current grant is complete and the organization has submitted final reports.

There are four exceptions to this policy:

  1. Bremer Emergency Fund grantees: Bremer Emergency Fund grant recipients not located in the Twin Cities are eligible to apply in 2009 for another grant. Bremer Emergency Fund grant recipients within the Twin Cities are eligible to apply in 2009 for another grant under the new Twin Cities focus.
  2. Fiscal sponsors: An organization currently receiving an Otto Bremer Foundation grant may apply for a new grant to support activities of a different organization for which it is serving as the fiscal sponsor. Similarly, an organization serving as fiscal sponsor for a program receiving an Otto Bremer Foundation grant may apply for a grant for its own activities.
  3. Serving different Bremer community: An organization currently receiving an Otto Bremer Foundation grant to serve one Bremer community is eligible to apply for another grant to serve a different Bremer community.
  4. Organizational Capacity Building grants: Organizations that are requesting funds for organizational capacity-building in addition to other funding needs (i.e, capital, general operations, or programmatic) may do so as long as the requests for the two types of work are submitted in one proposal. An organization currently receiving an Otto Bremer Foundation grant for program work or general operating support cannot request an organizational capacity-building grant until the current grant is complete and the organization has a submitted final report.
